In-Home Support - Parents As Teachers
This is a voluntary in-home program for parents who want assistance to create the best possible healthy start for their children, prenatally to age 5. A trained Parent Educator regularly visits with individual families. Through their relationship they are able to help new parents discover their own strengths. Using the Parents as Educators program a Parent Educator:
- Provides information and activities to stimulate your child's brain development (neuroscience)
- Encourages positive parent-child interaction through age appropriate games, songs and stories
- Provides information about child development
- Provides strategies for guiding children’s behaviors
- Support to achieve parenting goals
- Addresses isolation and connects families to community resources
- Provides hands on activities for both parents and child starting from birth to stimulate all areas of development (social, emotional, cognitive, and physical) in the home
